Fifteen arrested in connection with the theft of over 170 vehicles

The National Police have detained fifteen people involved in the theft of more than 170 motorcycles and cars, the network operating in Murcia and Madrid.

The organisation used several warehouses to store and manipulate the stolen vehicles before smuggling the majority to Hungary for sale. The leader of the organisation, a Hungarian national, was one of those detained by the police and he has been charged with belonging to a criminal organisation, theft, fraud, forgery andreceiving and revealing secret information.

The organisation allegedly had the assistance of a member of the Municipal Police who provided information of suitable vehicles of interest and details on the location of unmarked police cars to make stealing the vehicles less risky.

During raids in the two provinces, police seized 24 high-end vehicles, two large capacity motorcycles, €5,000 in cash, documentation and various tools of the trade.
