Police in Alhambra, greater Los Angeles, managed to recapture a giant tortoise called Clark after a short chase through the streets.
‘The tortoise did try to make a run for it; but, our officers are pretty fast’, reported the Alhambra Police Department on their Facebook page. Yortoises can sometimes reach speeds of 1 mph.
Clark is an African Spurred Tortoise and weighs around 70 kilos. Keeping giant desert tortoises is illegal without a permit, but the police will not be prosecuting Clark’s owners.
