A veritable armada of 23 small boats was intercepted this morning as they headed for the Spanish mainland near Gibraltar, the largest single mass arrival for ten years.
The boats carried a total of 240 migrants, including some pregnant women, a minor and a baby. Most of the migrants, however, were male.
All were said to be in good health although several were transferred to medical facilities upon arrival in the port of Tarifa.
