A two-year-old Irish boy died on Monday after falling into a swimming pool in urbanisation El Coto in Mijas.
The parents had been to the Local Police early on Monday morning to report that they could not find their son. At 10:45 the Emergency Services received calls that there was a child in a swimming pool in the urbanisation.
It is thought that the child climbed onto a wall and then fell into the swimming pool in the adjoining property.
Around 100 children die each year from drowning, 73% of these in private swimming pools.
