The Council is yet again requesting the Junta de Andalucia to do something about the landfill site in the area known as the Barranco del viejo, previous requests having been unanswered.
Local residents had apparently been complaining about the rubbish tip for many years before requests were made to the Junta de Andalucia, owners of the plot of land, to clean up the area.
The Council now says that if no meeting to discuss the matter is forthcoming to discuss the situation, then they will have to raise the matter with the Minister of Environment.
A simple solution would, of course, be to clear the site and argue about administrative technicalities and responsibilities at a later date, particularly if there is any question of it being a public health hazard.
