Andalucia appeals against two more laws passed by the central government

The Junta de Andalucia has approved two more actions against laws implemented by the government of Mariano Rajoy, making fourteen such actions thus far.

This time it is the new Electricity Law and the Royal Decree on urgent measures to increase growth, competitiveness and efficiency.

The Junta de Andalucia believes the Electricity Law could be in violation of the Constitution, particularly regarding Articles 9 and 65 relating to electricity consumption and ‘serious’ infringements. In addition, the Junta contends that the new law will stifle the use of renewable energy and the region will also lose €328 million per year in revenues as a result of the changes.

On the Royal Decree on urgent measures to increase growth, competitiveness and efficiency, the Junta is not happy with how this relates to trading hours in large tourist areas.

The Electricity Law was passed in January, the Royal Decree was passed in July.
