The driver of a vehicle who, in 2008, caused an accident which seriously injured singer Ana Torroja and actress Esther Arroyo and killed a friend travelling with them has been find €360 and banned from driving for one year following a plea bargain.
The accident occurred on October 10th 2008 on the N-340 near Vejer de la Frontera, Cádiz, when the accused lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with the car in which the singer and companions were travelling.
Giving evidence, former actress Esther Arroyo said that tha accident has meant that she has been unable to work since due to incapacitation. Singer Ana Torroja stated that she needed two years to recover and still suffers headaches and dizziness.
Following the accident she had to break off recording her album and cancel planned tours.
The driver admitted negligence and causing the death of one person and injuries to five others. Now under consideration by the court and experts are the compensation claims being made by the victims.
