Atlético Madrid got off to a good start against struggling Real Sociedad after Mandzukic netted after ten minutes, but the party didn’t last as Vela equalised just five minutes later.
It stayed level until the 82nd minute when Agirretxe scored for Real Sociedad to give them a 2-1 victory and three valuable points.
Valencia and Athletic Bilbao played out a 0-0 draw while Sevilla and Levante also shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Vitolo scored for Sevilla, Casadesús for Levante.
Only four points separate the top five teams with Real Madrid two points clear at the top of La Liga.
