Maritime Rescue has intercepted a boat carrying 27 men, 13 women and 5 children, all of sub-Saharan origin.
A search began at 13:00 following the receipt of a telephone call saying that a boat had left from Morocco. At 14:52 the boat was spotted by a merchant vessel and the Guardamar Calliope was sent to intercept.
The small boat was located about 35 miles off the Almeria coast. All the passengers were in apparent good health except for one man who had suffered a leg injury.
