A 60-year-old woman was stabbed to death on Wednesday in Arrecife, Lanzarote, the incident occurring in calle Nacarra in the Titerroy district of the municipality.
The killing occurred at around 17:00 and the alleged perpetrator, who only met the woman a few months ago, was arrested as he tried to leave the island. He was also suffering from stab wounds and is now in the Hospital Doctor José Molina Orosa.
The detainee had arrived on Lanzarote this morning from Tenerife and was arrested at the airport when he tried to return. Police became suspicious when they saw his bloodstained clothing.
