Algatocín is a ‘white village’ in the Serrania Ronda region with typically steep, narrow streets dating back to the Moorish occupation. The town actually dates back to Roman times and archaeological remains have been found at nearby Cerrogordo.

The 16th century Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora del Rosario containing a wooden image of St. Francis of Assisi carved in the 18th century.
