The mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Francisco Delgado, has announced that the government group has approved a motion to initiate proceedings to name a street, plaza or roundabout in honour of the late Adolfo Suarez, first democratic Prime Minister following the end of the Franco fascist regime.

The Ministry of Public Works has reportedly approved a government request to rename Madrid Barajas Airport in honour of former Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez, who died on Sunday after a long illness.

The former Prime Minister of Spain, Adolfo Suarez, spent Friday night in hospital in Madrid where he is undergoing routine medical tests. Suarez, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Spain, is 79 years old and has been suffering from Alzheimer’s for the past seven years.
