This year, the Local Police appear to have been carrying out more regular monitoring of street vendors during the summer period rather than a one-off token clampdown at the beginning of the season.
In the latest action on the Balcón de Europa, calle Málaga, calle Carabeo and Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos, officers handed out denuncias and seized a number of items, most of them counterfeit copies of brand names.
Amongst the items seized were 18 football shirts, 23 handbags, 49 polo shirts, 122 pairs of shorts, bracelets, necklaces, toys and fans. The sellers were denounced for selling items without having the necessary municipal licence.
There have certainly been far fewer vendors lining the streets or approaching diners this summer.
