A prisoner in Botafuegos jail in Algeciras is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed by his cellmate.
The alleged assailant, who is described as someone with a hazardous profile and has been involved in incidents and riots at various prisons, is now in an isolation cell.
The incident occurred at dawn when the prisoner, using a homemade weapon, stabbed his sleeping cellmate, also known to be a volatile character. Officers on duty managed to take quick action and transferred the victim to the hospital.
