SECOND PLACE FOR ANTONIO CORTÉS IN ‘SE LLAMA COPLA’

Bad weather caused the planned ‘support’ party in Tutti Frutti square for local singer Antonio Cortés to be moved, at the last minute, to the more sheltered location of the sports hall at the Sierra Almijara school.

Around 1,000 people watched the Canal Sur contest ‘Se llama copla’ unfold as the event was beamed ‘live’ to the hastily erected large screen. Antonio Cortés, a favourite with audiences throughout the series, ended up in second place behind Joana Jímenez.

The contest was close, 51% to 49% in favour of Jímenez, but there were quite a number of angry and disappointed fans who alluded to ‘a fix’

Antonio Cortés is due back in Nerja on Thursday and a big party is planned.
