FINISHED AT LAST, BUT NEEDS REPAIRS!

Torrox Council is refusing to take delivery, as it were, of the new promenade at Los Llanos until the Department of Coasts remedies a number of deficiencies.

The promenade, whose construction upset residents of the Laguna Beach complex and caused various protests, has been completed after nearly eighteen months of work. The contract for the project was awarded by the Department of Coasts to the company JOCA, whose application, at €1,554,000, was well under the tender price of €2,385,665.

The project consists of an 800 metre long and 5.5 metre wide pedestrian walkway, 60 seats, 70 lampposts, 45 rubbish bins, 8 sets of showers and footbaths, 11 sets of stairs, 10 ramps with handrails, 2 pergolas and a sundial.

Amongst the deficiencies noted by the Council are a number of loose paving slabs on the walkway which constitute a hazard.
