A HERO RETURNS HOME

Around 2,500 people turned out to see the return to Nerja of Antonio Cortes, runner-up in Canal Sur TV’s ‘Se llama copla’.

Antonio Cortes, a 19 year old local lad, arrived in a horse-drawn carriage and was greeted by the mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo. He was then escorted through the crowds by Guardia Civil and Local Police officers, pausing on the way, of course, for numerous hugs, handshakes, back patting and kisses from his new fans.

At the Town Hall he was presented with a commemorative plaque before appearing on the balcony to speak and then sing a few songs to the assembled throng.
