NEWBORN BABY FOUND IN ALMERÍA HAD DIED SEVERAL HOURS PRIOR TO DISCOVERY

The baby found in an irrigation channel in Vera, Almería, was a premature birth and had died between four and ten hours before its discovery by a group of local children.

An autopsy carried out on the baby found in an irrigation channel has determined that it was male, white and was one month premature.

A group of children were playing football on a dried-up pond at the back of the bus station when they had to go and retrieve the ball. In doing so, they discovered a rucksack which contained the body of a newborn baby. Rather scared, as one can imagine, they told some local workmen on a nearby site about their grisly find and they alerted the authorities.

The police are now trying to trace the parents of the baby and ascertain the circumstances of the death.
