OH BUOY

With just one week to go before the start of the Easter holiday period and the first major influx of tourists, Nerja is the only municipality in the Axarquia which will have marker buoys installed along its coastline to define bathing areas.

It is also the first time that Nerja has decided to start installing the buoys so early in the year. However, despite the fact that such installation is an annual event, permission still has to be obtained from the Department of Coasts and the Guardia Civil before it can begin. Rather strange.

Also, the licenses for the sun loungers have also already been sorted out. There were 29 applications for the 21 concessions. Must check if they re all adhering to the new ‘navy blue’ image regulations!

Sun longer covers and parasols are now required to be navy blue in colour and bamboo windbreaks or barriers are no longer permitted. In addition, concession holders have been ‘advised’ not to wear Hawaiian-style shirts, T-shirts inappropriate markings or be bare-chested, the ‘suggestion’ being navy blue trousers or shorts and a white shirt.
