Vélez-Málaga and Nerja will both celebrate the traditional Easter ‘pregón’ (speech) today.
In Vélez-Málaga, it all happens at the Teatro del Carmen, starting at 19:30. The pregón will be delivered by Ignacio Ramos, a devotee of the Virgen de las Angustias. Proceedings will begin with a performance by the string quartet ‘Picasso’. Ramos has promised a few surprises this year!
In Nerja, the Iglesia El Salvador (Balcón de Europa) is the scene and it starts at 20:30. The pregón will be delivered by Ángeles Valverde Mingorance, founder in 1966 of the ‘cofradía de Jesús Resucitado y María Santísima de la Asunción’ (Brotherhood of Jesus Resurrected and the Virgin Mary of the Assumption). There will be a choral concert featuring the sacred works Christus Factus Est by V. Goicoechea, and Miserere by Eduardo Ocón,
