The Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol-Axarquía has awarded the contracts for installing various pieces of beach equipment in the district, a project budgeted at €444,000.
The company Somar Málaga will be responsible for installing such things as shower platforms adapted for the disabled, information boards, play areas and rubbish bins on the beaches of Rincon de la Victoria, Vélez-Málaga, Algarrobo and Torrox. Completion is to be within fourteen days of the signing of the contract.
The company Ecolmar Ibérica is responsible for the installation of marker buoys on the beaches of Vélez-Málaga, Algarrobo and Torrox. Completion is to be within six days of the signing of the contract.
Furthermore, a cleaning boat will operate during July and August along 21 kilometres of coastline. The boat will, in general, remain 200 metres from the shoreline except where specific and duly marked nautical channels are in existence.
