The people of Nerja yesterday paid their final respects to Manuel Millón with an estimated 3,500 attending the funeral service at the El Salvador church.
Manuel Millón, private secretary to the mayor of Nerja, died on Thursday after throwing himself from the Balcon de Europa. Although he left a short farewell note, the reasons for his action are not known and probably never will be.
Manolo, as he was known locally, was a popular and well respected figure both within the Nerja community and in regional political circles and many provincial dignitaries of all political persuasions attended the funeral.
