Nine dead in Benalmádena coach crash

Nine people have so far died and another 19 have been seriously injured in a coach crash in Benalmádena.

At just before 20:00, the driver of an SUV travelling at high speed lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the safety barriers. The vehicle then rebounded into a coach carrying Finnish tourists to Málaga at the end of their holiday.

Nine people have so far died, 19 have been seriously injured and another 16 have suffered less serious injuries. The driver of the SUV, who apparently had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his body, has been arrested by the Guardia Civil.

The wounded, who include a seven year old child, have been taken to various hospitals in Málaga.

The Finnish tourists were travelling with the company TUI España. A phone number has been set up for anyone wishing for more information regarding those involved in the accident.
