Málaga to carry out a review of ‘vados’

Málaga Council has ordered a review of all ‘vado’ no parking signs on garages and other buildings in the city to clamp down on illegal usage.

There are about 12,000 signs in the city of Málaga, many of which are not authorised, out of date or have just been purchased in specialty shops. There are also instances where a sign should be displayed but isn’t. The company Tecnologías Viales Aplicadas Teva, S. L. has been assigned the task of checking and listing all the signs and garages in the city, a project which expected to take them one year.

The Council realises that their current licensing system leaves much to be desired and, when the survey is complete, they will be introducing a new system. A municipal database will be set up and will be used to manage every aspect of the licensing procedure.

The rules and regulations are also being overhauled and new procedures will be issued covering such things as documentation required, taxation, rights and duties of applicants, necessity for pavement recesses or ramps etc. The new plates will contain a ‘chip’ for easy monitoring.
