The judge at the Magistrates Court in Torrox has ordered detention in custody and without bail for the teacher accused of sexually abusing an 11 year old girl.
The accused, a 32 year old teacher who lives in Torrox but teaches English at a primary school in Nerja, was arrested on Sunday and held overnight in the Guardia Civil cells. He is charged with sexually abusing an 11 year old girl, a relative of his wife.
An investigation began several weeks ago following a complaint by the girl’s mother and it is thought that the sexual abuse, which took place in several places and always outside the school where the man works, could have been going on for up to a year.
The defence lawyer, Joaquín Marcos, said that his client, who is married with two children under three years of age, was ‘sorry’ for what had happened.
