The Local Police arrested three drivers at the weekend on drink-driving charges.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in Plaza de las Carmelitas when a police car had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by a vehicle pursuing an unorthodox path along the road. The police gave chase and caught up with the vehicle in avenida Vivar Téllez. The driver not only tested positive for alcohol but also did not actually have a driving licence.
The second incident, also on Saturday, involved a driver who was sleeping in a moving vehicle after having tested positive for alcohol!!
The third detainee was a Bolivian national who crashed his car on Sunday. The driver, who tested positive for alcohol, had neither a driving license nor any insurance.
