Police in Hernani have been overseeing the removal of a monolith and plaque honouring the ETA activist José Manuel Aristimuño, alias ‘Pana’.
Last Monday, High Court judge Fernando Grande-Marlaska ordered the mayor of Hernani, Marian Beitialarrangoitia, to remove the name of Aristimuño from a local park and also from a street in the area. He also ordered the removal of any other items, such as the plaque and the monolith.
There was no trouble reported during the removal of the offending items.
