The former socialist mayor of Nerja, Gabriel Broncano, has been chosen to chair the Nerja Employers’ Association (AEN) after the current president, Ivan Jullit, announced he would not be standing for re-election.
Gabriel Broncano was mayor of Nerja from 1987 to 1995 and is currently the vice-president of the association which has some 350 members.
Nominations for a new president of the AEN will begin shortly and at its general assembly on September 25th 2008, a new president will be elected.
