An off duty Local Police officer in Torre del Mar successfully tackled and subdued an armed robber who had just stabbed the proprietor of a local establishment.
The policeman was wandering along calle Cipriano Maldonado when he heard a woman calling for help and exclaiming that her husband had been stabbed. The officer saw a man, covered in blood, in the doorway of a shop and a woman struggling with their attacker.
Without hesitation, the officer attempted to subdue the aggressor who was extremely violent and was brandishing a knife with a 40 cm blade. Eventually managing to subdue the attacker, officer Luis P.C. then tended to the wounded man, who was bleeding profusely from wounds to the abdomen, until an ambulance arrived.
Officer Luis P.C. also required medical attention for a wound to the hand sustained during the violent struggle. He was later commended for his actions by the mayor, Francisco Delgado, and the Local Police Chief, Antonio Arrieta.
