A corpse found yesterday by Protección Civil officers in Carchuna, near Motril, is that of a child aged between four and six years.
The badly decomposed corpse was found floating near Calahonda beach, behind the Hotel El Ancla. It is thought that it could be from one of the recent shipwrecks in the area involving illegal immigrants.
It is not known whether the child was male or female as only the torso and legs remained.
