The Agencia Tributaria (Tax Office) has seized 2,500 kilos of hashish hidden on board a fishing vessel heading for La Caleta de Vélez.
The boat was boarded in the early hours of yesterday morning and the six crew members, four Spanish and two Moroccan, were arrested and charged with drugs smuggling and crimes against the public health.
The operation was carried out by the Combined Customs Surveillance Unit in Malaga with the assistance of the Regional Unit of Customs and Excise in Andalucia, the latter providing a boat and a helicopter.
