Two Brits arrested

The Local Police and Guardia Civil have broken up a gang of British youths who had been committing various robberies with violence in Fuengirola and Mijas Costa.

The gang attacked shops around closing time, threatening the shopkeepers with large knives if they didn’t hand over the money. The youths would then make their getaway on mopeds ‘borrowed’ from friends or acquaintances without their knowledge.

During the robberies, the gang spoke to each other in English although they were also fluent in Spanish. Two members of the gang, 20 year old R.E.L. from Fuengirola and 18 year old P.R.S. from Coín, are now behind bars. Both are British nationals.

Police are now trying to locate the rest of the gang members before they have a chance to flee the country.
