Flights into Málaga down by 4.7% in August

Flights into Málaga airport in August were down by 4.6% compared to last year. Passenger numbers were down by 2.4% on the 2007 figure.

The number of flights into Málaga has been slowly declining since April, much of this being attributed to the introduction of several AVE high speed rail links.

Overall in Spain, the number of flights was down by 0.6%. Commercial flights were down 0.2%, domestic flights were down 1.4% but international flights were up by 1.3%.

The leading airports in Spain reported the following figures for August 2008.

 

  1. Madrid-Barajas: down 0.6%
  2. Barcelona-El Prat: down 6.0%
  3. Palma de Mallorca: down 0.7%
  4. Málaga: down 4.7%
  5. Gran Canaria: up by 4.6%
