Despite a poor start in the league, Barcelona put up a much better display in the Champions League, beating Sporting Lisbon 3-1.
Márquez opened the scoring midway through the first half and Eto’o added a second from the penalty spot after having been pushed to the ground. Tonel pulled one back for Sporting Lisbon but Iniesta made sure of things with a goal three minutes before the end.
Real Madrid were fairly comfortable 2-0 winners over Borisov, with Sergio Ramos and van Nistelrooy the scorers.
Atlético Madrid traveled to PSV Eindhoven and achieved a great result, winning 0-3. Argentinian Kun Agüero scored the first two goals, Maniche getting the third. Atlético are now top of their group.
Manchester United and Villarreal played out a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. The last time United dropped a point at home in the Champions league was three years ago….against Villarreal.
