The fourth ‘bottom cleaning’ exercise should take place today, having been postponed from September 28th due to adverse sea conditions.
The clearing of the sea bed is organised by Bernabé Jorge, director of the Diving Centre on Burriana beach (Buceo Costa Nerja), and will be carried out by 100 volunteer divers. There will be dives at 09:00, 11:00 and 13:00, weather permitting of course.
The same exercise last year resulted in the removal of 300 kilos of debris, which included such items as bikes, fridges and tv’s as well as the normal plastics and other rubbish left behind by careless (or thoughtless) tourists.
