Villarreal are back on top again, although possibly only temporarily, after a 2-1 win over Betis. Damia scored first for Betis, but then two goals in two minutes at the start of the second half were enough to give Villarreal victory. Gonzales and Llorente were the goalscorers for Villarreal.
Atlético travelled to Barcelona and came away empty handed. Barca were three goals up withing the first eight minutes, Marquéz, Eto’o (penalty) and Messi doing the damage.
Maxi got one back for Atlético, but then Eto’o and Gudjohnsen got two more within minutes and Henry rounded things off with a sixth goal after the break. The final score, 6-1.
