Noise crackdown in Benalmádena

The mayor of Benalmádena, Javier Carnero, is keen to avoid the fate which befell the municipality of Vélez-Málaga as regards noise made by bars in the area.

Vélez-Málaga Council was ordered to compensate 18 local residents in Torre del Mar the sum of €156,260 each relating to excessive ‘acoustic pollution’ generated by bars in the area. The mayor has warned the owners of establishments in Puerto Marina and Plaza Solymar that opening and closing times will now be ‘strictly’ controlled and enforced by the authorities since the agreed ‘self-regulation’ is obviously not working.
