Nerja to ask for a ‘proper’ bus station

The Councillor for Transport, Antonio Miguel Navas Acosta, is due to meet today with the Consorcio Provincial de Transportes del Área Metropolitana de Málaga (Provincial Consortium for Transport in the Málaga Metropolitan Area) to discuss Nerja getting a proper bus station.

The current bus station is, in fact, a layby on the N-340 with a small ticket kiosk and is deemed rather unsuitable for a town the size of Nerja.

Two sites are being proposed for a new bus station, both of which are supported by the PGOU and the POTA. One is a plot of land by the Rapto de Europa – that’s the staue near the western entrance to Nerja – and the other is the large plot behind the Mercadona supermarket.

Whoa. Rewind. Isn’t the plot behind the Mercadona supermarket being offered to, and being seriously considered by, the Health Department of the Junta de Andalucia as the site for the proposed new Health Centre? Or has there been a change?

Don’t think we really want a combined Health Centre and Bus Station, could get confusing. Imagine queuing for hours and then being given a ticket to Granada rather than the ticket for the hernia operation you were expecting. Or vice versa!

It appears that almost every plot of land is readily available for just about any type of project, from fire station to health centre, except for use as a market!
