November sees sharp decline in tourist numbers

The number of foreign visitors arriving in Andalucía in November was 17.3% down on the same period last year, a figure which is six points above the national average.

Over the period January to November, the overall number of international visitors to Andalucía is down by 2%, each month having registered a decline when compared to last year. In Spain as a whole, the number of international visitors is down by 2% at 54.6 million.

Although there has been a steady decline in the numbers of Portuguese and British vistors to Andalucía throughout the year, November was a sharp decline compared to 2007 with 20,000 less Brits making the trip.

On the positive side, visitor numbers from Ireland and Scandinavia are actually up on last year. Both apparently enjoyed their holiday.
