Benalmádena shooting was probably a settling of scores

Richard K, the 30 year old Irishman gunned down on the streets of Benalmádena, was more than likely the victim of a settling of scores. And not for the first time.

The shooting occurred at 23:00 on Saturday night in calle Alemania. Richard K. had been enjoying a drink with friends in an Irish bar. He left the bar and was approached by an individual who proceeded to shoot him twice. He tried to get away but collapsed in the street and was then shot a further six times.

The shooter made his escape in a Honda Civic which was later found abandoned in the Torrequebrada area. The car was smouldering, the intention obviously being to destroy the eveidence, but this seems to have for failed for some reason or other. Investigation of the vehicle has led police to the conclusion that a second person was present in the car.

The victim and his family had moved to the Costa del Sol after surviving a similar shooting in his native Ireland. On that occasion he was the target of five bullets, although only three found the target.
