Unemployment could top 4 million in 2009

The Secretary General for Employment, Maravillas Rojo, has today admitted that unemployment could top the 4 million in 2009.

Original Government forecasts expected unemployment to rise to 15.9% during 2009, meaning the number of people out of work would be just under four million. However, the constantly changing economic climate has meant a constant updating of figures and a figure of over four million unemployed is not being ruled out.
