Canillas de Aceituno has been reconnected with the world after 36 hours without telephone or internet connection due to storms in the area. Both landline and mobile telephone systems were knocked out.
The Mayor of Canillas de Aceituno, José Manuel Aranda, has expressed his dissatisfaction with Telefonica regarding the outage, stating that there was a total absence of information from the company about the causes of the problem and the actions being taken to rectify the matter.
He added that contact with Telefonica on several occasions failed to obtain a satisfactory or even useful answer.
The Mayor compared the current situation to a similar weather related problem earlier this year when snow interrupted the power supply. He said that, on that occasion, Sevillana-Endesa kept everyone up to date on progress to resolve the problem.
Businesses in the town suffered through a lack of intenet access and the Council will be available to help those who deem it appropriate to submit claims against Telefonica.
