The Central Government has approved the projects submitted by Torrox Council under the ‘Plan Zapatero’ (Plan Estatal de Inversión Local) and these will be going out to tender in the next few weeks.
The projects include:
- Restoration of Plaza de la Constitutión, costing €934,868.
- A comprehensive redevelopment of the promenade at Ferrara Playa along a 1.5 kilometre stretch between avenida del Sol and avenida del Faro. The cost of this project is expected to be €1,534,781.14. The works will be halted during the summer months to avoid inconvenience to visitors.
- Reformation of calle Hospital and calle San José in the centre of the town. These two projects should be completed by April 2009.
- The construction of changing facilities at the Colegio de El Morche a project budgeted at €526,492.
- Renovations to the OALDE building.
