Fresh food prices

Various items of fresh food increased in price in February, both when compared to the same month last year also when compared to the preceding month, January.

Green beans led the way, 23.36% more expensive than last year and 29.49% up on January prices. Other fresh food prices to increase were:

  • Rice: 21.47% up on last year
  • Green peppers: 13.23% up on last year
  • Canary Island bananas: 11.63% up on last year
  • Fresh chicken: 7.29% up on last year
  • Lamb: 6.93% up on last year

Some things have, however, gone down in price:

  • Lemons: 10.36% down on last year
  • Anchovies: 7.69% down on last year
  • Roosters: 7.04% down on last year

Compared to January, there were also decreases in price for refined Girasol (-6.54%) and mild Olive Oil (-4.97%).
