A wild and woolly day, so a good time to have a first look at the Festival de Arte being held at the Sala Mercado in calle San Miguel from now until March 10th.
Lots of entertainment going on at various times, as well as the exhibition itself.
There is just about everything on show, from cakes to guitars, woodwork to ceramics. I like to watch the traditional craftsmen at work and there is one guy sitting there weaving the grass bowls and baskets. He’s been around Nerja a long time, probably one of the last remaining traditional grass weavers in this area. He used to have a small workshop in calle Gloria and you could always stop and watch him plying his trade.
There is a wide range of art on show, from abstract and mixed media to traditional portraits. Many will recognise the local character in this painting.
Some very good wood carvings on display also, particularly liked this one.
There does seem to be something for almost everyone.
