Work at Ferrara Playa in Torrox

Work is currently being carried out along a 200 metre stretch near Ferrara Playa in Torrox as collectors for the new sewage system are installed.

The installation of the collectors is part of the plan to connect the entire sewage system of the town ready for the completion later this year of a second water treatment plant in the municipality. This second plant, being built at a cost of €17.2 million, is located on the arroyo Manzano and will provide cover for Torrox, Lagos, Caleta de Velez and Mezquitilla.

The plant will have the capacity to treat 5,000 cubic litres of waste water per day, enough for a 20,000 population, and also has a tertiary system for the provision of recycled water for irrigation purposes.

While Torrox, and other areas, see second plants being built, some municipalities are still waiting for a first one!
