A 24 year old destitute in Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz province, died after fire destroyed the tent in which he had been living for the past few months. His companion, a 26 year old local woman, was seriously injured.
The couple had been living on ‘La Olla’ industrial estate for several months. It is thought that one of the numerous candles being used inside the tent fell over and started the blaze which quickly destroyed the tent. The man died almost instantly, such were the severity of the burns.
The woman is in the Hospital Universitario de Puerto Real where her condition is said to be ‘serious’.
