It’s not getting any better

Unemployment in Andalucía reached 944,100 in the first quarter of 2009 which, in percentage terms, is 24.04%. The figures have just been released by the National Institute for Statistics.

Nationally, unemployment stands at 17.36%, up by 3.45 points. There are now 4,010,700 people out of work, 802,800 more than during the previous quarter.

During this last quarter, 766,000 jobs have disappeared, which makes it the biggest decline since 1976, the year when such statistics monitoring began.
