Six people were injured, one of them very seriously, as a result of a fire in an apartment block in Algeciras.
The fire started at around 09:00 on Sunday morning in an apartment block in avenida de Italia, in the San José Artesano district of Algeciras.
The wounded, three with mild injuries, two with severe injuries and one in a critical condition, were transferred to the Hospital Puerta Europa in the city. The seriously injured man had not only suffered from smoke inhalation, but was further injured after jumping from the first floor of the block as he tried to get away from the flames.
In addition to the injured, a further ten people had to be evacuated from their homes. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
