Two detained after body found on Málaga street

Police in Málaga have detained two people in connection with the discovery of a body in calle Pacífico late last night. The victim showed signs of multiple bruising.

The victim, a 37 year old Spanish man, was found in the street after several people had called the police to say that a man was lying in the street covered in blood. He had sustained injuries to the back and neck, presumably from a blunt instrument, although the exact weapon is not yet known. It could, apparently, have been anything from a hammer to a brick.

Witnesses say that the man, armed with a knife, had tried to rob a local games arcade and, after his failed attempt, was followed by a group of people from the establishment, two of whom have now been detained.

The National Police confirmed that they had received a call about an attempted robbery at the arcade by an individual whose physical characteristics closely matched those of the deceased and are not ruling out a connection between the two events.
